However, I have a Swedish colleague working in HK who is getting married in April next year and I was invited to join the hen party for his wife-to-be. It was really fun for us but full of excitement for the bride-to-be as she did not know what will happen for the whole day!
We "kidnapped" her on her way out to breakfast with a big surpised of gals from 10am. We brought her back to her home "dressed-up" in a red Chinese dress. Then we went to have our dim-sum breakfast - one of the best breakfast in HK! This is a relatively quiet place and decorated like a palace (for couple having their wedding banquet in the evening). They have the typical fake cake here so we had a picture with it.
  One of the tasks for the bride-to-be is to take some photos with strangers. One mission is to take photo with the man she doesn't want her husband looks like in 30 yrs. Right after dim-sum, we saw a batch of very rough guys! We both thought that ... they are very good to go! hahahaha very funny but mission completed!
  FYI some guys in HK like to tide their t-shirt like this one in green... showing their belly. no worries they just want to get more wind and be cool.
She need to find a old couple and it is so funny that after taking the photo, the old man insisted to give his signature to us. Maybe he thinks he is popular! Finally we found that he is an artist (painting) in China.
 One of the missions is to find a couple who is kissing. When Ylva started inviting them by telling them she is having a hen party now... this gal said do you need to kiss him (her bf), if yes, go ahead! hahaha  Next, we went to do OIL PAINTING! This is my first time in life doing oil painting... i like it a lot.

 We had a very tight schedule, after painting, we went to learn bollywood dance! there is no photo from me as i was very busy learning the steps. Hopefully more photo to come with the training. But no worries, we demonstrated the dance we learnt in a beach afterward!
We went to join the guys in the evening to finsih the day with a party in the beach. So as to create a surprise, we covered her eyes. Well it wasn't that easy to walk esp before reaching the sand.
  The boys were so nice and already setup all the place to sit and the food for us!
    As i mentioned earlier, we really danced in the beach! quite synchronized though!
   It was a very nice evening...

10月16日 「囍」Double happiness「囍」字有雙重喜樂的意思，在傳統中國人的婚嫁禮儀中，意義特別重大 - 寓意吉祥，為新人帶來美好祝願，象徵著幸福婚姻的開始。 The Chinese word 「囍」means double-happiness and this is a word which is highly respected - implies fortune and prosper.「囍」acutally composed of two Chinese charaters「喜」(happiness) - that's why it is referred as "double happiness". Double happiness is exclusively used on marriage. Gold is also widely used in a typical Chinese wedding. Similarly, it represent fortune and prosper. Double happiness and gold are a very common combination.

Other than double happiness, it is Pig + many little pigs and Dragon+Phenix are also very common in Chinese wedding. This necklace is of cos implies fertility which was considered important in the good old days. Scarily big and looks ridiculous on the neck but some people really wear it (usually this is a gift from close relatives which you should wear it. At least just on one day). I have a friend who wear similar thing, just with 12 baby pigs. 10月5日 Save the day It sounds a bit too early to annouce anything further. However, we know that there will be guests from very far away to join our wedding... we'd like you to save the Saturday of 6 Nov 2010 (yes, it is next year!).

9月25日 Pearl necklaceI like to do some handicraft and have made earrings for myself with crystal and some cute beans.
This time, I am going to try something new! I have bought some pearls and raw material to make a pearl necklace... I guess it should be easy... Keep watching and I will post my finsihed one soon!
 9月18日 Watch out for the STUPID!
A good friend of mine sent me a news clipping today... I found it very interesting which I wanted to share with you.
According to a Swedish clinical research, "stupid people" is similar to cigarette, alcholo and fatty food - which is harmful to our health. If you always need to work with those stupid, you may get heart attack.
Scary, huh?!
The research says STRESS is the main source of heart attack and dealing with stupid people is one of the most destructive sources of stress. A large proportion of those who had heart attack confronted stupid people within the last 24 hrs. One typical example is - a "colleague" has been keep asking him to borrow his correction-pen to clean the mistakes on the computer screen.
Of cos if you have stupid colleauges, you have to work more (if not double)... and this will increase the stress level on top of dealing with them.

Today I talked to two friends I knew since I was young (younger). One has a baby gal last year and is now carrying her 2nd boy. The other is my first boy friend where we are good friends since (hmmm let me think... ) since ... since... we were around 16 years old. His lovely baby gal has just arrived.
After waves of weddings I have participated, I guess there will be more news about my friends having babies instead. I am sooo happy to see them enjoying their lives, their work and having great family. In my years so far, I am happy and having many good friends around. They are very important to me.
I am entering a new page of my life too. No worries, I am not having baby but I am just engaged.
8月25日 "little" birthday gift in 2009This year, I got a little shinny birthday gift... a diamond ring. The ring is beautiful esp. this is exactly the style I like, the best color and etc... However, what i like the most is not the ring itself but the meaning out of it.
 It is an engagement ring!
It means I am now engaged~ As an independent woman living in the competitive socieity like HK, I already get used to earn enough for myself, buy whatever I wanted, travel to wherever I preferred. Nowadays, most of the women in HK is smart and don't need the butter and bread from a man. So I am not that "fond of" getting married.
I always have an impression that man (esp. those in HK) hates getting married. They are afraid of the committment and think that they are taking up a "burden" of a family. I don't agree as I see most of the time, it is the woman who takes care of the husband and the family instead. Anyway, it seems to me that man is not that enjoying to get married. And I always think... I will only get married if my husband-to-be loves me a loooot + he thinks it is a great honor to be able to get married with me.
I can see how much Erik loves me, he keeps saying thank you to me for saying yes... he couldn't stop smiling...
I trust I have found (met) the one.

In the end, facts are the facts. No matter the students and public gathering in Tiananmen square were right or wrong, the military control, killing the armless with guns and tanks were the FACTS which can never be changed! Same as many people in HK, I have witnessed the killings on TV. Admit it or not, it is true and it is the facts I can never forget. Truth will not get blurry by time...

6月5日 「薪火相傳、接好民主棒」Hongkongers are seens as "materialistic" and very distant from any political issues. We don't care about any politics and honestly we cannot change anything even we do care. Then what can we do is to focus on our own wellingness... working hard and earn more to secure our life in our own way and of cos enjoy the life with what we earned. This is the 20th year of the June 4th incident. Each year since 1990, the Alliance in Support of Democratic Movements in China have organised candlelight vigils there in memory of June 4th incident. Every year, tens of thousands of participants with candles fill several football pitches, to remember those who lost their lives and to demand vindication for those who sufferred persecution. This is the 20th year of the June 4th incident and it is so touching to see so many hongkong people participated in the June 4th candlelight vigils last night. The weahter in this week is not good but it was excellent yesterday even the weather forecast said it will have heavy rain! I am so proud to see so many people joining the event and I am so proud that HK can still be the only place of China to organize this event. I was there and it was just waves and waves of people... On the way, there were also people organizing signing to speak out that our SAR head Donald Tsang is NOT representing us! he is not elected by HK people so he canNOT say anything on behalf of us!
We can hardly get inside. The organizer said there were 150,000 people joined and this is the highest record of this candlelight vigil. All the grassland, football and bastketball courts are filled with people. Althought it was very crowded and hot, people also brought their kids because they believe that we have to let our next generations know the truth. We have to keep demanding the China gov't admit what they have done, release those still kept in jail/ home arrest and move towards the real democracy!!

5月22日 Swine flu @ Japan
When I first looked at this photo from newspaper, I found it funny but also sad. The swine flu is attaching Japan, besides Tokyo, there are more cities found confirmed H1N1 cases. My colleauge who is visiting Japan said that he was the only one who didn't wear a mask on the plane!! It should be scary... and uneasy feelling.
This reminds me the very tough and difficult situation in year 2003 SARS in Hong Kong.

4月30日 Erik is getting better and better on photographyMany friends of mine know that I love taking pictures. I can take hundred of pictures in a trip (or even a day!) Also, I love to be in the picture too... However, Erik is not a very good photographer, many times one single position/ background has to re-take several times. We even had a "competiton" while we were just sitting on the side of the pier last year. We competed on who can take a picture of this "little stand" better. Remeber the focus should be this stand... This one is from Erik... it is okay... Hey here come to mine... yeah~ i think mine is better as i was also the judge.
After my intensive training, Erik improves a lot... here are some great pics he took in BJ~

4月20日 My favorite Japanese Sake “上善如水”This is my favorite Japanese sake“上善如水” (no English name)... or i can say the only alcohol i like.
 I am not a drinking person and cannot take much alcohol (most people know when they see my face turn scary-red after just a sip of beer!) I don't like beer as they are mostly bitter - except Hogarden (which taste better). Red wine is good when they are really good or else it is just x!#@$!#@%$ hard to describe. However, i don't know why there are still a lot of people thinks i drink a lot.
Anyway, i really like this sake and today accidentally I found out the name of this sake is actually from a Chinese old wisdom - Tao Te Ching 道德经 from 老子 - a very famous teacher. He said： <<上善若水 - 水善利万物而不争>> Water is like Infinity, it gives itself to all things without distinction or judgment and settles into the lowest places without deliberation.
In dwelling, live in harmony with the land.
In meditation, remember your oneness with the Infinite.
In dealing with others, do not judge.
In communicating, relate the truth.
In governing, be fair.
In daily life, be in harmony with all things and at peace with all people.
In action, be mindful that there is a time and a season for all things.
Avoid judging and its legacy contention and flow in the peace and harmony of the oneness of humanity.
原著 - 《道德经》 第8章：上善若水。水善利万物而不争，处众人之所恶，故几于道。居善地，心善渊，与善仁，言善信，政善治，事善能，动善时。夫唯不争，故无尤。 经典解读 - 宋王安石《老子注》说：“水之性善利万物，万物因水而生。然水之性至柔至弱，故曰不争。众人好高而恶卑，而水处众人之所恶也。” It is interesting that the Japanese sake was originated by the yellow wine from China and now they have the famous brand of sake also named after a Chinese wisdom. The meaning of Chinese wisdom saying is deep and it takes time to digest... Chinese wisdom is always like a piece of "art", everyone interpret the same saying a bit differently. Even the same person might see the the same saying differently and have a different take-out after time is changed orwe experience something different in our life.
Let's don't make “上善如水” complicated... The best thing to digest “上善如水” will be with sashimi~
